A real short simple video on how to draw blood from a goat to things like CAE and CL testing. This draw went smooth but sometimes it can be difficult. Here are somethings that can cause troubles while trying to draw blood.
The animals head needs to be high (but not to high) to allow easy access to the neck and to stretch out the vein. Do not hold the animal with a collar as it can restrict blood flow and make it extremely difficult to find the vein. Dont let the animal chin down or tighten its neck muscles. Sometimes when you poke the needle in, a animal will flinch and tighten up, if this happens let go of the needle. You could cause damage to the vein if you try to hold it while the animal is moving or tightening up. The more relaxed the neck, the easier it will be to draw the blood. Not all animals have the same size veins and it could take some time locating it. Do not stop the blood flow for more then 10-15 seconds at a time. Doing so rcould make the animal pass out.
